Village court
Jurisdiction of village court

01) In the union in which the crime is committed or the cause of the case arises, if the parties to the dispute are usually residents of that union, the village court of that union shall be constituted and the village court shall have jurisdiction to adjudicate similar cases.
02) The village court of the union in which the crime will take place or the cause of the case will arise, if one party to the dispute is a resident of that union and the other party is a resident of another union, the union in which the crime will take place or the cause of the case will arise. If you can, you can nominate a representative from your own union.
Power of village court
Unless otherwise provided in the Act, the Village Court may order a person to pay compensation not exceeding Rs. In any case relating to civil matters referred to in Part II of the Schedule, an order may be issued for payment of the amount mentioned in the Schedule or for the return of possession of the property or its possession to the actual owner of the property.
